Marvel’s Avengers War Table Weekly Blog Week #46

Welcome to our Marvel’s Avengers WAR TABLE Weekly Blog, where we’ll give you the scoop on news, patch notes, Marketplace updates, and more!

  • In response to frequent community requests, the upcoming update to Mega Hives will enable multiplayer support! In addition, we will be streamlining the rewards so that players will always receive the Hivemind Exotic gear when they complete the weekly mission.
  • Coinciding with the multiplayer Mega Hive update, we also wanted to enable players to earn even more Exotic gear per week. We are revamping the Priority Missions, which will now drop the additional Exotic gear set that was previously from Mega Hives. To make this content more compelling, we are combining the missions into a single weekly mission that will be higher Power Level to offer players more of the challenge they are asking for.
  • Join us for a livestream on 7/16 where we’ll be chatting with some special guests.

Inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Marvel Studios’ Black Widow Outfit” for Black Widow is still available! Pick it up before it’s gone!

Low-key casual-cool more your style? Thor’s Norwegian Cabin Outfit will be up your alley.

Community Q&A

We pulled up our virtual chairs and sat down with DailyAvenger for a quick interview discussing their Photo Mode shots!

Q. Can you introduce yourself?

A. Hey Avengers! I’m Troy aka @GetMeAShield or @DailyAvenger on Twitter. I’m a teacher from Connecticut by day and an Avenger with a Virtual Photography hobby by night! Thinks for thanking of me for the Community Spotlight this week!

Q. How did you get involved in virtual photography?

A. I first got into Virtual Photography in October of 2020. Marvel’s Avengers had just come out, so I made a Twitter account to keep up with all the updates on the game. That’s when I discovered the amazing work of other virtual photographers, like Riffian and OuterRims, and I was instantly inspired. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow! These look so cool. I didn’t even know you can do this; I need to give a try.” Here we are a few thousand captures later and Virtual Photography has become favorite hobby!

Q. What is your process like when trying to capture that perfect shot?

A. At first, I didn’t have much of a process at all. I had no sort of background in art or photography, so any kind of methodology and/or terminology was lost on me. I would just pause the game whenever I thought something looked good and then I would go to town messing around with Photo Mode. The more I practiced and saw the work of others, the more I was able to refine the process a little bit. In a sense, I almost relearned all the characters and their moves because memorizing them for combat and memorizing them to know the perfect time to stop and catch it in-action are two totally different things! Once I knew my characters, I started to take more things into consideration, such as the environment, lighting, and color. These natural elements found within the game can add so much to a capture that they became really important factors in deciding where and when I took my shots. When I finally got a handle on setting up my shot and pausing at the right moment, I started working on figuring out how to utilize each feature of Photo Mode to my advantage. I spent a lot of time messing around with camera angles and figuring out how to use Depth of Field to focus the shot on a particular subject. Like many others, I also like to take duplicate shots using different filters, brightness, and/or saturation settings, as I find it helps me determine which shot I like best when I go to post them!

Q. Any favorite Hero or locations to take photos of?

A. Favorite Hero to capture? Captain America— no question. Steve Rogers is my favorite Hero and he’s just the guy you strive to be, so it’s really exciting for me to be doing this in advance of his birthday weekend. He’s also the hero I might post the least because I’m always super critical of the shots I take of him. Nobody wants to let Cap down! As far as locations go, I like to take shots at mission starting points or in the elevators! The mission start points have great backgrounds and work really well for taking vertical shots. The elevators give you different lighting and shadows with the opening and closing of the door, so I’ve been able to capture a bunch of cool shots in there, too!

Q. What is the biggest tip you can give for anyone trying to get into virtual photography?

A. My biggest tip for anyone thinking about getting into Virtual Photography is to just start! Virtual Photography is art, so there’s no right or wrong way to take shots. It’s all about the experience you have while doing it. If you develop a love and enjoyment for what you’re doing, your skills and eye will develop as a result. That might mean you learn-by-doing on your own, or that might mean you go do some homework. Look at virtual photography and other artists work, and use what you learn from those observations as a tool to advance your own shots and skills. Whatever you do, just have fun with it!

Q. We asked you to choose your favorite shots to be featured in this blog. Why did you go with these?

A. As I’m writing this, we are heading into 4th of July weekend, so I think it’s only fitting to feature Steve Rogers on his birthday. I hope everybody left milk and cookies out for Captain America!

 Q. Anything you want to say to the community?

A. If you’ve made it this far, thank you so much for taking the time to read this today. If you’re considering dabbling in Virtual Photography, I urge you to try! Please feel free to reach out on Twitter if you’d ever like to chat about the game and/or VP. I want to give a special shout-out to all my friends in The Chimera Discord! Overall, the Avengers community is full of so many amazing, creative, and passionate people; I’m honored to be among you. Alright folks, enough chit-chat, it’s time to take the fight to AIM. I’ll see you out there! If you need anything else let me know! Thanks again and have a great weekend!

The Mega Hive is a single-player chain of four missions that tests your team’s might. Each week you’ll have a shot at completing the Mega Hive mission chain. This week’s modifiers include:

  • Famine
  • Clash
  • Heavyweight
  • Bane

Weekly Rewards: As you progress through the Mega Hive, rewards start as basic gear, resources, and small amounts of cosmetic currency. The more missions you survive, the more resource drops increase. As you near the final mission, you’ll see better gear and artifacts awarded more often, as well as increased chances for patterns/nameplates. When you complete all four Mega Hive missions you’ll be rewarded with exclusive goodies reserved for this gauntlet, including a significant amount of high-quality resources.

Till next week, we’ll see you online, and in-game!
