Marvel’s Avengers: September 4 Patch Notes

Thank you so much for playing Marvel’s Avengers on launch day and for providing feedback and reporting bugs in Early Access!    

Most of the improvements detailed below aim to address stability and provide save game options for players. We chose to push these out as soon as possible while we continue tracking and working hard to resolve a few known issues, which you can find outlined below.    

Please keep your feedback coming, and we will be releasing further patches as fixes are found!   

PC Patch Notes: V1.0 Build 12.9   

We have just released our first patch for Marvel’s Avengers, build 12.9. This patch is primarily focused on stability, based on the data we have collected after Early Access started a few days ago.   

The patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.   

List of fixes for this patch:      

  • Implemented work-around for NVIDIA 10-series driver problem that was causing crashes when using ALT-TAB, ALT-ENTER, and other situations.   
  • Enabling Steam Cloud to allow you to easily synchronize your save-games between multiple PCs.   
  • Fixed a problem that caused some players to be unable to throw rocks as Hulk or to shoot as Ironman.   
  • Fix for a DEVICE_HUNG crash some users experienced in the sewers.   
  • Various other stability improvements.

Features      

  • Backup Save: Available in the Settings menu, this feature backs up your save files. Your progress will be saved every hour. If you run into any issues with a corrupted save file, this can potentially help retrieve and revert to a different save file. Please note: This may not work for everyone, and will not address issues with save files that existed prior to this patch.        

General      

  • Fixed an issue where the Square Enix Members interface would appear too frequently.   
  • Network improvements      

Missions      

  • Last Avenger Standing now works as desired when characters switch out.

  • Addressed character model bugs with young Kamala and Thor

  • Fixed an issue where achievements would sometimes not work.    

KNOWN ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS      

  • Falling Out of World when Entering the Avengers Initiative: This infrequently presents as a partially loaded Helicarrier and results in characters infinitely falling out of world. We are actively working towards a fix. If you encounter this issue, please first try the new backup save option. If that doesn’t work, as a potential workaround:         
  1. Have a friend who is also in the Avengers Initiative invite you to their Strike Team.   
  2. Have your friend queue up for a mission with you in the team then launch it.   
  3. You may spawn in a different location than your friend. If this happens, have your friend Reload Checkpoint.   
  4. Complete the mission.   
  5. After the mission, exit to the Main Menu.   
  6. Enter the Avengers Initiative again and Reload Checkpoint.         
  • Character Duplication/Swaps on Golden Gate Bridge: This presents as a rare bug with late-game campaign players, where they are loaded into the Golden Gate Bridge as the wrong character. We are actively working towards a fix. If you encounter this issue, please first try the new backup save option. If that doesn’t work, we ask that you please fill out a ticket with our customer support team so we can work to reproduce it and fix it: support.square-enix-games.com   
  • “House Call” cannot be Completed: This presents as an occasional bug with the bridge in the mission “House Call”. We are actively working towards a fix. If you encounter this issue, please first try the new backup save option. If that doesn’t work, we ask that you please fill out a ticket with our customer support team so we can work to reproduce it and fix it: support.square-enix-games.com   
  • Infinite Loading Screens: We’re aware of this infrequent bug and are working on tracking down the cause. If you encounter an infinite loading screen, we ask that you please fill out a ticket with our customer support team so we can work to reproduce it and fix it: support.square-enix-games.com   
  • Unlocked Outfits Reverting to Locked State: This presents to some players as costumes that were previously unlocked through campaign progress reverting to a locked state, which may be due to previewing outfits. Exiting to Main Menu and relaunching should return the missing outfits to your inventory. Rest assured, outfits that have been purchased in the Marketplace or unlocked through Challenge Cards will not be lost. If that doesn’t work, we ask that you please fill out a ticket with our customer support team so we can work to reproduce it and fix it: support.square-enix-games.com   
  • Community Challenges not updating in real time: While progress is not appearing in-game, it is still being tracked on our end. We are working to optimize the system and implement a fix so that players can see their combined progress in real-time!    
  • Credits sometimes do not appear when purchased: This can be due to a delay on the server side with increased load. If this happens, first try exiting and relaunching the game. If the issue persists, please contact customer support so they can pull up your account and investigate! support.square-enix-games.com
